Stable CM9 for Galaxy Ace GT-S5830

Hello, it's been long time that i never update me blog..... now i will share to all of the Samsng Galaxy Ace users the flashing of super smooth Cyanogenmod 9 (ICS 4.0.4) to our phone.

The things that we need:
1. A piece of ROOTED Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 (How to root)
2. A computer
3. A USB cable
4. A partitioned sdcard with ext 2/3/4 format (ext3 is most prefered) (How to partition your sdcard)
5. PATIENCE

Please take note that removing your SIM card before doing all this will help you to reduce your phone's balance's usage because the mobile data usage after flashing the new ROM will really cost you something if you keep on forgetting to switch it off, ignore this if you don't care.

Okay, enough for nonsense, let's get us started.
1. Backup your contacts and sms with Super Backup : SMS & Contacts or GO Backup & Restore Pro.

2. It seems that using Super backup is better than Go backup, sms as well as contacts can be backed up
with Super backup, but Go backup can only backup contacts.

3. Backup your apps with data by using both Titanium Backup and Go Backup, the reason of twice backing
up is I have tried that Titanium backup gets very weird when restoring apps in CM10.1 (JellyBean 4.2.2)
(although CM10.1 has nothing to do with CM9, but i still feel that there are some relations between them,
and so i decided to use a safe strategy for flashing of CM9 after failed in CM10.1), but restoring of only
data will just be normal, then Go backup gives us the features of restoring both apps and data at the
same time, but it seems that it can only restore the app but not the data, so my strategy is to combine 2
of this apps to restore apps with Go backup and data with Titanium backup after successfully flashing the
CM9. Phewww... long story, it's alright, just get back to where we were...

4. Okay you are done with backing up apps, contacts, and sms. Now just reboot to CWM recovery mode.

5. Choose 'backup and restore', choose again 'backup'

6. Wait. Done.

7. Choose 'factory reset' and then 'wipe cache partition' and then 'mount and storage' then 'format /system'.

8. Press back button once, choose 'advanced' then 'wipe dalvik cache' and 'wipe battery stats'.

9. Press back button once, choose 'install zip from sdcard'

10. Choose to flash the 'cm9_cooper.....zip' that you can get it from here.

11. Wait. Done.

12. You don't need any Gapps.zip since this ROM has already included the Gapps.

13. Reboot.

14. Sign in your Gmail.

15. Go to setting>security, tick for 'Unknown Sources' and open your App drawer and open Google
Settings, choose 'Verify' and untick the 'Verify Apps'.

16. Go to setting>developer options and Tick that 'ADB debugging', press on 'root access', choose Apps
and ADB, the following step is opotional but i recommend you to do, scroll to the lowest end, press on
'Background precessing  limit' and choose 'at most 1 process', then tick the 'Kill app back button', this
can help u sometimes if the phone is very lag (just keep holding back button for 3 seconds, it will kill the
      foreground app).

17. Install both Titanium Backup and Root Explorer.

18. Open Root Explorer, and copy that 03mountsd file that you can download it from here to
      /system/etc/init.d folder.

19. Long hold the 03mountsd file and choose 'permissions'. If it says the file is only read-only, just press the
'R/W' button somewhere on your screen, and try long pressing again.

20. Just tick them all like the picture given below.

21. Reboot your phone.

22. Open Terminal Emulator from app drawer, and type 'su', then type 'mount | grep sd-ext'.

23. You should get like the picture below.

24. Exit Terminal Emulator and reboot your phone to recovery mode.

25. Backup your phone again (optional but recommended) because you are going to take few really risky
      steps after this.

26. Boot up your phone, and open Play Store, and search for 's2e' there.

27. Download it's free version(there's nothing different with donated version, but if you feel you really thank
this app so much, you may still buy the donated version).

28. Open it and give it root access.

29. Wait for it to be completely installed and tick the 'Application' and also the 'dalvik-cache' as shown on
      the picture below.

30. Don't do anything else except for going to your home screen and reboot your phone.

31. Just wait, booting up may take longer for now, but no more than 10 minutes and botting up successfully
means that you have succeeded to move apps apk and dalvik cache to sdext.

32. Follow this guide to move apps' data to sdext.

32. Now open Play Store and install Go backup, then choose to restore your apps (I assume you already
know how to restore your contacts and sms already), don't restore all apps in once, instead, partly
restoration is better since we have low internal memory, 30 apps in once and repeat the restoration until
all your apps are restored completely, if i'm not mistaken you will find that every of your restored apps
are out of data, don't worry if it happens this way, just follow the following steps.

33. Open Titanium Backup and use filter function to show only user apps.

34. Choose the batch function, it's either showing up a 'batch' when you press menu button or then green
'box with tick' button on the top-rightmost of your screen.

35. Just choose to restore ALL apps with data, and then choose to restore only data.

36. Reboot.

37. Reboot.

38. Reboot.

39. Rebooting for several times can help you to ensure that there is no problem happens to your phone.

40. You have succeeded.

Extra things that can help you to handle this new operating system:
1. After signing in with ur gmail, you may go to setting>data usage to switch mobile data off, unless you don't
care of your phone balance getting deducted.

2. You may go to setting>launcher>drawer to untick the 'join with apps' to disable the joining of widget and
apps, if you are really annoyed by this problem.

3. You may go to setting>system>status bar scroll down to tick the 'brightness control' so that hold on ur
status bar and drag it left or right can control brightness.

4. You may go to notification drawer>widget buttons> to choose which widget button you want it to show
    on your notification bar.

5. you may change ur time zone that is of your location in date and time setting.

6. You may go to setting>performance press ok when it promts out then tick 'surface dithering' and '16 bit
transperancy' , choose 'memory management' tick the 2 things, all these steps are optional, i have done
this, you may choose not to do this, if you don't want to risk anything.

Okay after long and boring steps, here's my final sentence, if you feel that i did help you somehow, just like my facebook page here or follow my blog for easier revisiting, or even donate me a cup of beer, thanks.
